Here to Support You

It’s hard to feel like yourself when you're carrying unspoken stress, grief, or questions about who you are. Maybe you've been holding it all together for a long time, and you're tired of doing it alone.

I’m Pedro Garcia (he/him), a BACP-accredited therapist offering counselling in English and Spanish, online and in person in Greenwich and Waterloo. I specialise in providing diversity-affirming, trauma-informed counselling for adults with a focus on:

  • LGBTQIA+ clients who want a space where they don't need to explain themselves
  • Men’s mental health
  • Neurodivergent adults (including ADHD) trying to make sense of a world that can feel too much
  • Survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse processing trauma that still lives in their bodies
  • People facing burnout, grief, shame, or emotional fatigue

What therapy with me feels like

I know what it’s like to feel different, to carry stories that haven't been fully heard. I bring that understanding into my work, creating space for people to reconnect with themselves and find their own path forward.

Many people I work with come to therapy because they feel

  • Emotionally overwhelmed or shut down
  • Disconnected from their body or sense of self
  • Stuck in grief, shame, or loneliness
  • Tired of always being the strong one

How We'll Work Together

It can be exhausting to keep it all in, to feel like no one really gets what you’re going through. That's why I offer a grounded, supportive space where you can explore who you are without fear of judgment, at your own pace, in your own words.

My approach is person-centred (you lead the way, at your own pace), trauma-informed, neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming (no masking, no need to explain), and creative to support expression. You set the pace. You bring what’s real. My role is to walk alongside you, not to fix you, but to support you in making sense of your experience. Therapy with me is about helping you tune into your own needs, values, and instincts. There is no right way to heal: only your way.

Over time, therapy can help you:

  • Feel more grounded and connected to yourself
  • Understand and process difficult experiences
  • Set healthier boundaries
  • Explore relationships with more clarity
  • Make choices that feels right for you

Safe, Ethical, and Creative Therapy

I am a qualified counsellor, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I adhere strictly to its code of ethics to ensure our interactions are professional and safe for you. Beyond my core qualifications, I'm also part of the Creative Counsellors network. A creative approach can help you explore thoughts, feelings, and memories in different ways, especially when things feel stuck, messy, or hard to put into words. Creative therapy can:

  • Help you connect to parts of yourself that have been ignored or silenced
  • Offer new perspectives when words fall short
  • Support healing through emotion, intuition, and imagination, not just logic

There’s no one way to do this. It’s about finding what works for you, and building therapy around that.

Please, feel free to reach out to me. I offer a non-committal 20-minute conversation call free of charge where we can discuss your needs and determine if I am the right counsellor for you.

How therapy can support you

A Space Where You Can Be Real

Your story deserves to be heard. This is a space where you can speak freely, without needing to explain yourself or be 'fixed.'

Whether you're facing emotional overwhelm, exploring your identity, or figuring out what’s next, you're welcome here exactly as you are.

You don’t need to have the right words, only a willingness to start exploring what feels difficult, painful, or confusing.

Together, we’ll move at your pace, helping you find relief and meaning in your experiences.

We’ll Go at Your Pace

Therapy can bring up difficult memories or strong emotions. That’s why we’ll move gently and never rush your process.

If you’re living with the effects of trauma, whether from the past or ongoing experiences, you deserve a space that feels steady, respectful, and attuned to what you need.

I bring a calm, grounded presence to help you stay connected to yourself, even when the work feels heavy. We'll focus on building safety first, so healing becomes possible, on your terms.

You Deserve to Be Seen for Who You Are

Your identity, your culture, your gender, and your way of thinking and feeling are not problems to be solved. It’s something to be honoured and understood.

Whether you’re navigating life as an LGBTQIA+ person, feeling pressure to 'man up', or trying to make sense of a cross-cultural life, therapy can help you untangle what’s yours from what the world has projected onto you.

This is a space where your full experience matters, without shame, without needing to justify who you are.

Make Choices That Feel Right for You

You might feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, reacting in ways you don’t fully understand, or making choices that leave you feeling drained or disconnected.

Together, we’ll explore where those patterns come from and how they’ve helped you cope. With more understanding and self-compassion, you’ll begin to see new ways forward, ways that feel more aligned with your values, needs, and sense of self. Therapy can help you move from surviving to living more intentionally.

Please note that counselling is not intended for crisis situations or urgent needs. If you need immediate help, please contact Samaritans on 116 123, or go to your nearest A&E Department. You can also text SHOUT to 85258 to chat by text at any time.

About Me and Why I Believe in Therapy

Pedro Garcia (He/Him)

Empathetic and Diversity-aware Counselling

London, Greenwich, E14 & surrounding areas, as well online, phone and email.

Hola! I’m Pedro (he/him). I grew up in the vibrant city of Barcelona, and about ten years ago, I made London my second home. Since then, I’ve found deep meaning in being part of this diverse, ever-changing city, both as a person and as a therapist.

Living between cultures has shaped how I see the world, and it’s made me especially passionate about creating spaces where people feel seen, accepted, and free to be themselves.

I’m a counsellor who believes that therapy should feel like a real, human connection, not a performance. My work is rooted in the Person-Centred Approach, which means I’ll meet you with empathy, warmth, and honesty. I’m here to walk alongside you, not to judge or fix you.

Pedro Garcia - Diversity Aware Counselling in Greenwich & Waterloo

Alongside my private practice, I also work with NHS clients and with charities supporting people who’ve experienced abuse, violence, and forced displacement. These experiences have taught me that healing starts with safety, that you need to feel seen, respected, and in control before anything else can begin to shift. My approach is gentle and collaborative, always led by what feels right for you.

In our sessions, every part of you is welcome: your past, your identity, your fears, your hopes. We will take things at your pace, creating space for reflection, honesty, and gentle change.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need a place where you can show up as you are and feel supported in doing so.

If you’re looking for a therapist who truly values difference, listens with care, and brings creativity and depth to the process, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.

Some frequently asked questions

Before you explore the FAQs, I want to assure you that no question is too small or insignificant. Your enquiries matter. If you don't find your question listed below, or if you require further information, please don't hesitate to reach out. You can easily connect with me through the ‘Contact’ section.

What does work within diversity mean?

Diversity aware counselling incorporates cultural sensitivity into therapy, ensuring that cultural context and experiences are fully respected and understood within the counselling process. This connection allows for more effective communication and a deeper, more meaningful therapeutic experience.

It recognises the importance of race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, beliefs, values, attitudes, religion and language and considers external realities such as racism, sexism, and physical health, ensuring a holistic approach to your care.

Working within diversity opens the door to empowerment and navigating life’s complex roles. Whether you are dealing with personal challenges like trauma, seeking acceptance, or navigating complex relationships, my approach is supportive and culturally sensitive, helping you to explore these areas at your own pace.

I am not LGBTQAI+ or part of a minority group, can I still take counselling with you?

Absolutely! As a multicultural counsellor, I embrace diversity and welcome clients from all walks of life. My practice is inclusive and provides a supportive environment for everyone.

Can I have therapy in Spanish?

Of course! I offer therapy sessions in English, Spanish, and Catalan. You are welcome to choose the language that feels more comfortable for you, ensuring your therapy experience is as supportive and effective as possible.

What should I expect from therapy?

Every person’s experience in therapy is unique, influenced by their individual goals and commitment. You may learn to embrace your vulnerabilities, feel more empowered, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, face challenges constructively, or develop greater compassion for yourself and others. The outcomes would depend on your personal journey and what you hope to achieve through therapy.

Can I have a call to discuss my case with you?

Yes, I offer a free 20-minute consultation. This is an opportunity for us to learn a bit more about each other and for you to see if you feel comfortable working with me. Please note, this is an introductory conversation, not a counselling session.

How long does therapy usually last?

The duration of therapy depends on your specific needs and circumstances. Initially, we will discuss a provisional timeline, which we can adjust as necessary. I offer:

  • Short-term counselling for specific issues, typically ranging from 3-15 sessions.
  • Long-term, open-ended therapy, for those who wish to explore deeper or long-standing challenges.
What’s your cancellation policy?

You can cancel or reschedule an appointment by giving at least 48 hours' notice. If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, you will be charged for the session.

How can I book a session with you?

Booking a session is simple! You can reach out through the 'Contact' section of the website with your availability. I aim to respond within 48 hours.

How do I prepare for my first therapy session?

Preparing for your first therapy session can help you feel more confident and grounded. Here are a few tips to get started:

1. Reflect on Your Goals: Think about what you hope to achieve through therapy. It can be helpful to write down a few goals or areas of concern you want to address. This doesn't have to be in-depth—a general idea can guide the initial conversations.

2. Prepare Questions: If you have any questions about the therapy process, confidentiality, or my approach, write them down so you can ask during the session.

3. Choose a Comfortable Setting: If your session is online, find a quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted. Ensure your internet connection is stable to avoid technical issues.

4. Mental Preparation: It’s completely normal to feel a bit nervous before your first session. Take some time to relax and calm your mind. Some deep breathing, meditation, or a walk can help settle any pre-session nerves.

5. Be Open: Try to approach the session with openness. The more honest you can be about your feelings and experiences the more helpful therapy will be for you.
